RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Sophomore Timothy Colanta leads the Maryland men's golf team after round one at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Beach and Spa Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Colanta went one-under par with a 71 and it tied for 12th in the standings. Freshmen Bennett Buch and Peter Knade were right behind him with just two strokes separation. Buch went even with a score of 72 to be tied for 21st and Knade went one-over. He is tied for 27th.
Junior David Kocher went +4 in the first round with a 76 and sophomore Justin Feldman went +8 with an 80.
The Terrapins are tied for seventh out of 15 teams with the +4 team score of 292.
They will tee-off at 8 a.m. ET Monday in the second round. For live scoring, click here.
The Terrapins will compete against North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia Tech, NC State, Mississippi, Middle Tennessee State, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Northwestern, Clemson, Georgia, UNC Greensboro and tournament-host Purdue.
