COLLEGE PARK, Md. - With the Major League Soccer season set to get underway in exactly one month, we took at look at the Terps who will be playing throughout the league. In total, 18 former Terps will suit up in MLS in 2017—tied for the most alums of any program in the country.
Dan Metzger ('14),
Alex Crognale ('16), and
Chris Odoi-Atsem ('16) will see their first professional action. Metzger was signed by the New York Red Bulls from the New York Red Bulls II late last month. Odoi-Atsem was selected with the 12th overall pick of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by D.C. United, and Crognale signed a homegrown contract with the Columbus Crew SC.
Chris Seitz ('06) is the longest-tenured MLS Terp. He'll begin his 11th season in the league and his seventh season with FC Dallas.
Just down the road at RFK Stadium, three former Maryland standouts will suit up for the red and black of D.C. United: Taylor Kemp ('12), Patrick Mullins ('13), and Odoi-Atsem. Last season, Mullins was second on the team in goals with eight, despite playing in just 14 matches.
