O’Hara Breaks Hammer Record at Larry Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Emma O'Hara highlighted Maryland's performers on day one of the Larry Ellis Invite, setting a new school record in the hammer throw. Her mark of 58.32m (191-04) topped teammate Claudia Ababio's school record of 188-01 set earlier this season at the UNF Spring Break Invite, as she secured fifth place finish. Claudia Ababio placed 9th with a 54.91m throw.

Aaron Barlev ran a personal best 9:21.72 in the men's 300m steeplechase, finishing in 14th.Alexa Squirini ran a 4:34.28 in the women's 1500m race.

In the women's 5k, Kathryn Gearhart finished 19th, running a 17:21.66. Sydney Almeida ran a 17:40.57. Patrick Hanley ran a 14:48.80 in the men's 5k.

Jillian Maloney finished in 22nd in the women's javelin throw with a 32.34m. In the men's shot put, Nicholas Pulli had a 10th place, 15.71m throw.

 

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Terps had several standout performers on day one of the UVA Challenge, as Maryland continues action into Saturday at the University of Virginia.

Peyton Wade is currently in second after day one of heptathlon action. She won the high jump, leaping a personal best 1.82m. This mark will also count towards individual rankings on the NCAA Regional list in the High Jump event and puts her among the best in the East Region. She also placed third in the 100m hurdles, fifth in the 200m race (personal best of 24.90) and 13th in the shot put.

Dallyssa Huggins is currently eighth in the heptathlon through day one. She placed second in the shot put with a 12.24m throw. She also finished seventh in the 200m race (personal best of 25.37), eighth in the high jump and 18th in the 100m hurdles.

Kameron Jones finished 10th in the men's 400m with a personal best time of 48.44.

Alexandra Lucki finished the women's 800m race in 2:10.17 while Catherine Voelpel ran a 2:11.33 in the race. TJ Bleichner ran a 1:54.66 in the men's 800m.

The Maryland women 4x100m relay squad finished in 47.45, good for eighth in the field.

Micha Powell continued to dominate in the 400m dash as she placed third with a time of 53.36. In the men's 400m competition Dahri Jahn-Richardson ran 48.35.

AJ Ruffin ran a 10.98 in men's 100m race, his first race back this outdoor season.

In the women's triple jump, Kayla Richardson finished fourth with a 12.39m (40'7 ¾”) leap, Leah Blackall took 12th and Tamir Jacobs finished in 19th place.

Calvin Pitney cleared 5.03m to take fifth in the invitational pole vault competition.
