Moore Selected to Earl Campbell Watch List

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland center Brendan Moore has been selected to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.

The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Hall of Famer Earl Campbell. The nominee must also be born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year college.

Moore, who graduated from Westwood High School in Austin, Texas, started all 13 games at center for the Terps as a sophomore in 2016. He helped pave the way for a Maryland rushing offense that eclipsed 2,500 yards for the first time since 2003.

Moore played an integral role in Ty Johnson becoming the ninth 1,000-yard rusher in Maryland history last season. The Terps finished the 2016 season averaging 199.5 rushing yards per game, ranking fourth in the Big Ten.

In July, Moore was named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List for the second straight year. That award recognizes the most outstanding center in Division I football.

The Earl Campbell Watch List will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and five finalists will be named in December. The winner will be announced at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 11, 2018.

Moore and the Terps ironically open the season at Texas on September 2. The season opener is set for a noon kick and can be seen live on FS1.
