2017 Maryland Football Gameday Improvements

The 2017 Maryland football home schedule kicks off Sept. 9 at noon as the Terrapins host Towson at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. In advance of the first game, Maryland Athletics has made a number of gameday improvements. Check them out below!

Outside the Stadium

  • Directory signage will be located around Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium in key locations to assist fans in finding important gameday locations.
  • 105.7 The Fan will broadcast their pregame radio show live on campus beginning 90 minutes prior to each home game.
  • The new Cole Field House opened its doors on August 2, and the 92' high structure, as well as the glowing Maryland logo inside it, can be seen from the north and west portions of Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.
  • Lockers are available for gameday rental inside the Adele H. Stamp Student Union at the Terp Zone front desk for $10/day.
  • Beer and Wine will also be sold at Terp Zone prior to kickoff.
  • In addition to Subway inside Terp Zone, the Stamp Student Union also features Chick-fil-A, Sbarro, Taco Bell, Auntie Anne's and Starbucks. Each of these locations has options for free gameday delivery of platters and beverages to fans' tailgates.
  • For fans interested in exclusive tailgating locations, Tailgate Guys will provide white glove tailgate service prior to the Northwestern, Michigan and Penn State games. For more information, visit Ter.ps/TailgateGuys.
  • Stroller check is now conveniently located inside the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni center in Room 1130.

Stadium Entry

  • Pregame cannon blasts will alert guests 60 and 30 minutes prior to kickoff, encouraging fans to begin entrance into the stadium.
  • You will notice a wider perimeter surrounding Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Wanding and bag checks will take place further away from the stadium gates, allowing for more space, checkpoints and smoother access for guests. Additional road closures will also occur to enhance fan safety.
  • The perimeter will encompass the walkway between Stadium Drive Garage and Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium's West Concourse. Maryland student-athletes and coaches will enter the stadium at this location during Terp Alley approximately two hours prior to kickoff.
  • All will call locations and ticket service windows are located within the security perimeter, helping to streamline the stadium entry process.
  • In order to make stadium access more convenient, tickets holders can enter ANY gate throughout Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium, EXCLUDING GATE H, which is reserved for suite and mezzanine ticket holders only.
  • Small giveaway items will be distributed at select times to fans waiting in entry lines at gates prior to kickoff.

Inside the Stadium

  • For the Towson game only, all retail clothing items featured at the Tyser Tower Terrapin Team Shop location will be available for 50% off the marked price!
  • New LED signage (located at the North Vomitories, behind the West Endzone, and on the Gossett Team House façade) will add to the aesthetics of Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.
  • To improve band cohesion and produce better sound quality throughout the stadium, the Mighty Sound of Maryland has been relocated to Section 12.
  • The gameday DJ will be relocated to the field level in front of the student section to better engage with the students in attendance.
  • Social gathering areas can now be found on the West Concourse and the Green Turtle concession stand near Section 202. High top tables will provide guests an area to enjoy food or drink, watch the game and socialize with friends.
  • Newly added fan assistance locations will be located around Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium to help inform and direct guests.

Concessions

Maryland is introducing some exciting new menu items this season!

  • Located behind Section 16, the new “Maryland Pride” concession stand will feature a Maryland Crab Cake, the Baltimore Cheese Steak, a Southern Maryland Pork BBQ sandwich, and, during games in cooler weather, a vegetable-based Maryland Crab Soup.
  • Two beverage kiosks behind Sections 3 and 22 will celebrate Maryland's Craft Brewers and Vineyards with selections of Maryland Craft Beers on Tap from several local breweries and Maryland wines for fans 21 years and older.
  • Fans with a sweet tooth can try the new flavored pretzels and cinnamon covered churros at a kiosk behind Section 9. In other areas of the Stadium this season, fans will find crab nachos, BBQ nachos, fried chicken finger baskets, and Hofmann Hot Dogs topped with a chili, sauerkraut and more.
  • A new register system, designed to allow more special offers and to increase protection against identity theft by having the fans swipe their own credit card, has been installed in all concessions locations.
