Terps Fall to Hopkins in B1G Title Game

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Maryland men's lacrosse team's bid at a third consecutive Big Ten Conference Tournament championship fell short as it was defeated by rival Johns Hopkins, 13-10, Saturday evening at U-M Stadium.

The Terps (12-3), which are likely a lock for the NCAA Tournament, will find out their NCAA Tournament fate during the selection show Sunday Night at 9:00 pm on ESPNU.

Connor Kelly led the Terps with four points on two goals and two assists, while Matt Neufeldt had two assists and six ground balls.

The first half was a tale of two quarters as Hopkins (11-4) jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead, before the Terps answered with a 4-1 frame of its own in the second quarter. Kelly had a hand in each of the Terps' first three goals, before Colin Giblin added the fourth.

Maryland came out of the halftime break strong, with Will Snider scoring back-to-back goals to give the Terps a 7-5 advantage.

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Blue Jays scored six straight goals to close the third quarter.

Louis Dubick scored a pair of goals late, but the Terrapin rally fell short.

Kelly became the second Terp in history to total 40 goals and 30 assists in a season, joining Matt Rambo, who achieved the feat in 2016 and 2017.
