COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 victory over Appalachian State in front of a crowd of 1,131 Friday night at Ludwig Field.

The win marked the Terps' 10th win in its last 11 home-openers dating back to 2008.

Sophomore Anissa Mose scored her first career goal, while senior Jarena Harmon bagged her third of the season in the victory.

It was the Mountaineers who scored first just over 20 minutes into the game, as Sarah Murphy intercepted an errant Terrapin clear and drove a shot from the top of the box. The shot sailed just wide of Rachel Egyedd's outstretched hands and into the corner of the net.

The Terps answered just 12 minutes later, however, as Mikayla Dayes played a dangerous ball into the six-yard box. App State's Kristin Brown attempted to clear the ball, but accidently put it in her own net to square the game, 1-1.

Maryland took control of the game after the halftime break, outshooting the Mountaineers, 8-4, in the frame.

Harmon was the beneficiary of a tremendous buildup through the midfield, when Sydey Staier played a beautiful ball down the wing to Hope Lewandoski. Lewandoski found Mikayla Dayes for the shot at the top of the box, and Harmon finished a juicy rebound by the goalie.

The Terps added an insurance goal in the 85th minute when Lewandoski returned a 1-2 to Mose, who took the return pass and slotted home a beautiful low shot from outside the box.

Maryland looks to make it two consecutive wins Sunday when they face Navy in Annapolis at 6 pm.
