Laura Van Respaille earned 2018 Big Ten Preseason honors, the league announced.
Farina, a two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner and Academic All-Big Ten honoree, finished the season with a 74.53 average round score as a junior. The Siracusa, Italy native, placed sixth at the Nittany Lion Invitational (71-73-72) for her best outing of the season and notched three additional top-20 finishes.
Tian returns from the 2017-18 season after winning an NCAA Regionals bid and All-Big Ten Second Team, All-Big Ten Tournament Team and Academic All-Big Ten honors. She finished tied for second at the Big Ten Championships (72-67-72) for her best performance of the season. She also held the lowest scoring average on the team last season with a 73.09.
Van Respaille competed in all 11 events for the Terrapins in her freshman year and in just her third collegiate event, won the Nittany Lion Invitational individual title and helped the team to the team title with a 212 (74-68-70), -4 overall. She was named the Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week following her individual title. Van Respaille also received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and was named to WGCA's All-American Scholar team.
All three were recruited to Maryland by head coach
Diana Cantu, who is entering her fifth season at the helm of the Terrapin program.
Maryland begins the 2018-19 season at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina Sept. 9-11.
