Dustin, Jarecke Join Terps’ Incoming Class

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Two additional Incoming freshmen will join the Maryland softball program for its 2018-19 campaign as announced by head coach Julie Wright today. Pitcher Amelia Jarecke and catcher Katie Dustin bolster Maryland's four-player 2018 class to six heading into the team's fall campaign.

Jarecke comes to Maryland from Lincoln Pius X High School in Lincoln, Neb. She is was a four-year varsity letter winner and two-time Nebraska Class 'A' All-State selection for the Thunderbolts, while also earning Academic All-State honors. She is a two-time All-City First Team choice, while playing her club ball with Driven Academy Locos. Jarecke is a four-year National Honors Society member while ranking first in her graduating class.

Wright on Jarecke: "Amelia is an exceptional student-athlete and I am thrilled she will be joining our Terp family.  She will bring depth to our pitching staff and fit into our system nicely."

Dustin is a local product out of Glenelg High School where she was a Washington Post and Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro catcher selection this past year. Dustin also earned the Post's All-Met honors in 2017, and is a three-time First Team All-County selection and three-time team captain. She is the Glenelg school record holder in RBIs, runs, doubles and is second all-time in home runs and a National Honor Society member.

Wright on Dustin: "Katie is a hometown girl who will represent her state very well. She has an excellent work ethic and is a wonderful young lady. We are excited to have her as a part of our family."
