COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The third-ranked Maryland field hockey team (9-0, 1-0 B1G) will return home to host No. 23 Ohio State (4-4, 0-1) Friday at 4 p.m. and No. 8 Michigan (5-3, 1-0) Sunday at noon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
• Admission is free for both games. Parking is free all day Sunday and after 4 p.m. Friday in the lots surrounding XFINITY Center. • The Terrapins will celebrate LGBTQ Pride Day at Friday's game. Maryland will also welcome field hockey alumni back this weekend and will honor the 2008 NCAA Championship team at Sunday's contest. Prior to Sunday's game, the Terrapins will host a pregame clinic.

• Maryland is coming off of two wins over the past few days. The Terps dominated Michigan State, 5-1 Saturday to open Big Ten play. On Tuesday, Maryland battled back from a 4-1 deficit in the second half to win at No. 5 Princeton, 5-4, in double overtime. Kyler Greenwalt, Kelee Lepage, Sabrina Rhodes all scored, then Bibi Donraadt scored the equalizer with 15 seconds left in regulation. Nike Lorenz scored the game-winner off a penalty corner in the 82nd minute.
• Senior tri-captain Linnea Gonzales and Lorenz are leading Maryland with eight goals apiece. Maryland has eight scorers with multiple goals and 12 total Terps have found the goal line.
• At 9-0, Maryland is off to its best start since 2013 since it started 15-0.
• Maryland leads the country with 39 goals scored so far this year. The Terps are No. 2 in the country in points per game (13.11) and assists per game (4.44). Madison Maguire is No. 3 in the NCAA in assists per game (0.89). Nike Lorenz is leading the Big Ten with 1.33 goals per game.
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
• No. 23 Ohio State is 4-4 on the year and 0-1 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes lost to No. 6 Penn State, 3-2, and Miami (Ohio), 2-1, last weekend.
• Esther Clotet and Casey Cole are leading Ohio State with five goals each.
• The Terrapins are 12-0 vs. Ohio State all-time and 7-0 in matchups at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
• The Terps beat the Buckeyes, 3-1, last year in College Park on Oct. 13. Kyler Greenwalt, Linnea Gonzales and Bodil Keus all scored.
SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
• No. 8 Michigan is 5-3 overall and 1-0 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines beat No. 17 Rutgers, 3-1, and Central Michigan, 9-0, last weekend.
• Emma Way is leading Michigan with 10 goals so far this year.
• Maryland owns the all-time series over Michigan, 18-2, and they split last year's matchups. Maryland beat Michigan, 2-1 in the 1999 NCAA Championship game and the Wolverines beat the Terps in the 2001 NCAA title game.
• Maryland fell at Michigan, 3-2, in double overtime last year on Sept. 29. Melissa Wilken scored to tie it in the last few minutes of regulation, then the Wolverines scored on the very last second of double overtime for the win.
• They met again in the NCAA Final Four. Maryland beat No. 3 Michigan, 5-1, in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 17. Bodil Keus and Madison Maguire each scored twice and Linnea Gonzales scored as well for the Terrapins.Â

The Terrapins joined the Big Ten conference in 2014, after playing in the ACC for 31 years. Big Ten field hockey is the largest conference in the history of the sport in the NCAA with nine teams - Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland.
• The Terps are 119-38-3 (.753) all-time against Big Ten opponents.
• Head coach Missy Meharg is 102-18-1 (.847) vs. Big Ten opponents in her 30 years at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program.
• Since joining the league in 2014, the Terps are 29-4 in conference play.
• The Terrapins are 39-3 (.927) vs. Big Ten teams at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
• The Terrapins won the first Big Ten title for the University of Maryland with a 4-1 win over No. 14 Iowa on Nov. 1, 2014 in College Park.
HOME SWEET HOME
Since its opening in 2003, the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has provided the Maryland hockey program a huge home field advantage.
• The Terps are 171-20 (.895) all-time at the Complex.
• Maryland won 38 straight games at the Complex from Oct.11, 2008 through Oct. 14, 2011. The streak ended with a 5-2 loss to then-No. 1 Old Dominion.
• The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has played home to 26 of Maryland's NCAA Tournament games and has played host to three Final Fours (2007, 2010, 2014). The Terrapins are 23-3 in those games and won the 2010 national title on their home field.
PACK THE HOUSE
• The Maryland field hockey team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex season after season. The Terrapins have led the nation in attendance in five of the last eight years.
• An NCAA-record crowd of 2,381 came out to watch as Maryland beat North Carolina 3-2 in double overtime for the 2010 national championship at the Complex.
THREE TERPSÂ EARN PRESEASON BIG TEN HONORS
• Senior Linnea Gonzales, junior Kelee Lepage and sophomore Brooke DeBerdine were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list in August. The full list, click HERE.
• This marks Gonzales' fourth straight year earning Big Ten Preseason honors. She was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2015 and All-Big Ten First Team honors last season. Gonzales is the Terps' second leading returning scorer with 10 goals last season, including three in their NCAA Tournament run to the national championship game.
• Lepage started in 12 of 22 games as a sophomore last year. She scored one goal in a game at Michigan State and notched three assists.
• As a freshman last season, DeBerdine started in all 23 games and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
• Seniors Linnea Gonzales, Julie Duncan and junior Kelee Lepage were voted team captains before the season. The full list, click HERE.
• The trio was votes on by their peers after a team vote. All three Terps are new to the captainship role.
OVERTIME IS TERPS TIME
During Missy Meharg's tenure, the Terrapins have become one of the nation's most dangerous teams in overtime.
• The Terps are 65-25 (.722) all-time in games that went to overtime or penalty strokes.
• In Meharg's tenure, the Terps are 54-21 (.720) in overtime or penalty strokes games.
STAFF UPDATES
• The Terrapins welcome two new assistant staff members in 2018. Kati Nearhouse comes on board as the team's Director of Operations and former Terrapin Kasey Tapman joins as the team's volunteer assistant coach.
• Nearhouse comes to Maryland after spending the 2017 season as an assistant coach at Bryant. Prior to her time at Bryant, Nearhouse worked for two seasons at her alma mater, Syracuse, as the Director of Operations for field hockey. She played her first three seasons at Old Dominion before transferring to Syracuse to finish her career. As a player, Nearhouse was named an NFHCA Division I Second Team All-American after a standout sophomore campaign in 2011. That season, she started 25 games and tallied 21 points off eight goals and five assists, leading the Lady Monarchs to the Final Four.
• Tapman was a part of five Maryland field hockey teams, including a redshirt season. She played in 77 career games. She helped the Terps to the 2011 NCAA title and three total NCAA Final Fours. In her time in College Park, Maryland won four conference titles. She is currently on the U.S. National Team's Developmental Squad.
TERPS ON NATIONAL TEAMS
• Nine Terrapins, former and present, are currently on USA Field Hockey's national team rosters.Â
• Jill (Witmer) Funk competed with Team USA in the Rio Olympics last summer, along with former volunteer assistant coach Stefanie Fee. Former Terrapin Megan Frazer is on the Irish National Team and current Terp Nike Lorenz plays for Team Germany.
• Recent grads Anna Dessoye and Alyssa Parker are on the U.S. Women's National Team. Seniors Linnea Gonzales, Sabrina Rhodes and volunteer assistant coach Kasey Tapman are on the U.S. Developmental Squad.
• Current Terps Brooke DeBerdine, Kyler Greenwalt are on the U.S. Under-21 Team.
