MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota scattered three goals across 90 minutes to secure a 3-0 win over Maryland Friday. The Gophers held an 18-5 edge in shots and jump to 7-4-1 (3-1-1) with the victory while the Terrapins move to 3-6-3 (1-3-0). Â
After a scoreless 30 minutes to open the contest, the Golden Gophers broke the draw with a goal from Molly Fielder in the 33rd minute. The Terps would manage two shots in the half and three corners, but couldn't generate any scoring chances as they headed into the break behind 1-0.
The hosts quickly made it 2-0 at the start of the second, getting a goal from Makenzie Langdok n the 48th minute on a shot to the corner from a cross. The Gophers added insurance in the 78th minute as Megan Gray scored to make it 3-0
Maryland returns to competition Sunday for a 2:00 pm (ET) matchup at Wisconsin.
