MADISON, Wis. – The Maryland defense was able to stop all 13 of the Wisconsin corner attempts, holding the Badgers (8-2-3, 2-1-3 B1G) to a scoreless tie on Sunday afternoon. It was the Terrapins (3-6-4, 1-3-1 B1G) second game in three days and seventh overtime matchup of the season.
 
On Wisconsin's senior night, the Badgers were able to constantly pressure the Terps in the first half, recording four shots and seven corners. Although the Badgers controlled possession for most of the first 45 minutes, goalkeeper Rachel Egyed and the Maryland defense held their opponents to only one shot on goal.
 
The Terps best chance in the first half came from redshirt freshman Alyssa Poarch. Thirty minutes into the game, Poarch had a step on the Wisconsin defender and took a shot from outside the top of the box, but the ball curved wide.
 
The Maryland offense was able to put the pressure on the Wisconsin defense in the second half and overtime periods, recording 10 shots and taking seven corner attempts of their own.
 
It was in the 60^th minute of the game when the Terps almost broke open the scoring. Sophomore Hope Lewandoski went on a short breakaway, taking a shot from the middle of the box. Wisconsin goaltender Jordyn Bloomer made the save and the deflection went to Poarch, who's shot went up and over the crossbar keeping the game tied at zero.
 
The offensive effort for the Terps continued in the overtime periods as sophomore Sydney Staier's opportunity in the 107^th minute went wide of a diving Wisconsin goaltender.
 
Maryland returns to College Park Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini at Ludwig Field.
