STORYLINES

•  Michigan State leads the all-time series 8-5, and captured wins in both meetings between the two schools last season. Maryland's last win came on March 4, 2017 when Melo Trimble sunk a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining to top the Spartans 63-60 at XFINITY Center.

•  Anthony Cowan Jr. finished with 20+ points for the fourth straight game to pace Maryland to a 75-61 win over Ohio State the team's last time out on January 18.

•  Bruno Fernando added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and had 15 rebounds vs. OSU, marking his 10th game with a double-double this season. His 10 double-doubles ranks second in the Big Ten and 11th in the nation this season.

•  Maryland's 58.1% field goal percentage against the Buckeyes was its best in Big Ten play this season, while the team's 64.7% (11-17) three-point field goal percentage was its best this year. Maryland's 64.7% clip from beyond the arc was its best since shooting 68.8% (11-16) vs. Wake Forest on February 2, 2013 (min. 10 made).

•  The Terps are looking to match their best start in Big Ten history with a victory over Michigan State, after a win over Ohio State moved Maryland to 7-1 in Big Ten play. The Terps previously got off to an 8-1 start in B1G games during the 2016-17 season under head coach Mark Turgeon.

•  The Terrapins' consecutive road wins over Rutgers, Minnesota and Ohio State marked the first time the program secured three straight conference road games by double digits since defeating Wake Forest (74-55), Virginia (66-42) and Georgia Tech (74-63) during the 2010-11 season.

•  Cowan hit a pivotal 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to push Maryland to a 64-60 win over Wisconsin their last home game on January 14.

•  Maryland allowed just 15 points in the first half against Wisconsin, marking the fewest points scored in a half by an opponent since Maryland allowed 14 in a 68-66 OT win over Michigan State in its first-ever Big Ten game on December 30, 2014.

•  Cowan is averaging 23.0 points, 5.25 assists and 5.3 rebounds the past four games in wins over Minnesota, #22 Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio State. The Bowie, Md. native has been clutch in the second half during that stretch, going 9-of-14 from three while scoring 73 of his 92 points in the final 20 minutes.

•  Anthony Cowan Jr. became the first Terrapin to finish with 20+ points in three straight Big Ten regular season games since Maryland joined the conference, and is now looking to become the first Terp with five 20+ scoring games in a row since Terrell Stoglin during the 2011-12 season.
