Five Burning Questions - Donta Scott

Throughout the fall, umterps.com will be featuring a different men's basketball player (or players) each week leading up the start of the 2019-20 campaign. Be sure to follow along with additional player-specific content on Maryland basketball's social media platforms on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more on each player. Today's featured player is Donta Scott from Philadelphia, Pa. Here's five burning questions with Donta.

How would you describe your game to someone who has never seen you play?

"I would describe myself as a very versatile player. I can move around all over the court, play defense, guard the one through four [positions] and score for my team when we need it. Just overall be a guy that will do whatever I can to help the team."

What drives you as a competitor?

"Just seeing people get better because that to me is one of the great things in life -- just seeing people get better everyday and bettering yourself. If you push other people to get better they're going to push you to improve as well. And my mom drives me as well because without her I wouldn't be playing basketball. And my six seniors that were in my class behind me [at Imhotep Charter] my whole way through high school. They constantly drove me and pushed me to be a better player. And even our underclassmen pushed me to be better. "

What has been your favorite part about being at Maryland so far?

"Just embracing everything that comes with being a Maryland Terp. The fans, the family atmosphere and just being there for each other."

What was the feeling like stepping onto campus for the first time?

"Just being here at Maryland, walking around campus and taking in the atmosphere has been a blessing and a pleasure. This place is everything my Mom and I could have asked for going to college on scholarship. I get to be here doing my thing and make the most out of this opportunity to learn and become a successful adult."

Favorite dunk you've ever thrown down in a game?

"I had a lot of them. I think we were playing Oak Hill my senior year. We set up a little play to throw me an alley oop, I dunk it, yell at the fans and get the crowd bumping. Our team came out with a win so it was pretty memorable."
