Five Burning Questions - Darryl Morsell

Throughout the fall, umterps.com will be featuring a different men's basketball player (or players) each week leading up the start of the 2019-20 campaign. Be sure to follow along with additional player-specific content on Maryland basketball's social media platforms on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more on each player. Today's featured player is Darryl Morsell from Baltimore, Md. Here's five burning questions with Darryl.

What part of your game do you think you've made the most improvement on from last season?

"Just being a leader. I'm more focused on helping the team and helping the younger guys improve everyday, and just trying to lead by example."

What's different about this year's team?

"I feel like we're just hungry. Last year the loss in the NCAA tournament made us hungry, and the freshman came in hungry as well. I feel like they saw that loss on TV and it's just been competitive. We have a deep team and we're hungry, we've got something to prove so it should be a good year."

What has been your advice to the freshmen and younger players heading into the season?

"It's not easy. There's definitely going to be some roadblocks along the way. I'm just trying to show them that's it going to be okay. That there's going to be better days at the end of that road block and to stay confident and that we believe in them."

What's something you've learned or discovered about yourself as a person since coming to Maryland?

"Self-confidence is important. That's one of the things I've learned since I've been here. I've found that if I want to succeed I've got to believe in myself. I've learned that I probably wasn't as confident as I should have been in the past, but just with repetition and being in the gym I feel like I'm a lot more confident now."

Your all-time dream starting five (including yourself):

"At the one, Lebron, I need the ball in his hands. At the two, Michael Jordan . At the three, me for sure, gotta put me in there. At the four, give me Carmelo Anthony, Baltimore ties, my man. At the five, give me Bruno. We rockin' with that."
