ROSEMONT, Ill. – Senior goalkeeper
Noelle Frost of the fourth-ranked Maryland field hockey team earned her second Big Ten weekly honor of the year Monday. She was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Frost, a native of Glenwood, Md., allowed just one goal in over 154 minutes in two top five victories for Maryland (11-1) this week. She saved 83.3 percent of her shots faced and picked up her fourth shutout of the year.

At No. 5 Northwestern Thursday, Frost and the Terps' defense held the Wildcats without a shot for the first 34 minutes of the match. They held them scoreless for over 57 minutes. She made a key save in overtime as Maryland picked up the double overtime win.

Against No. 3 UConn, she made two saves in the second quarter as Maryland started to gain control of the match. The Terps took a 2-0 lead before halftime. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies were awarded a penalty stroke with 8:20 to play. Svea Boker stepped up to take the shot and Frost dove to her left to save the play and preserve the shutout.

Frost reached 53 career saves this week. She is fifth in the country in goals against average (0.90). Frost earned her first career weekly honor when she was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.

The Terps won their eighth straight game and third over a top 10 team in the last two weeks.

Next, Maryland will host No. 8 Iowa (8-2, 3-0 B1G) at 4 p.m. Friday at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
