• The Terps have won each of their first five games by double-digits for the first time since the 1998-99 season, when they would go on to reach the NCAA Sweet 16. The 1998-99 team, which was led by Steve Francis and Terence Morris, opened the season with eight consecutive wins by double-digits.

• The Terrapins moved to 5-0 for the sixth straight season with an 83-66 victory over George Mason last Friday night, as sophomore Jalen Smith posted his third double-double of the season and senior Anthony Cowan Jr. added 16 points. Freshman Makhi Mitchell had a breakout performance, posting 12 points and eight rebounds in 10 minutes of action - all in the second half.

• Maryland is currently turning the ball over just 11.2 times/g through the first five games, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten Conference. It also leads the conference with a +4.8 turnover margin. It's a positive trend for the Terps, which ranked 14th in the Big Ten with a -3.6 turnover margin last season. Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. has led the way with 23 assists against 10 turnovers so far.

• Conversely, Maryland is forcing 16.0 turnovers/g, which currently ranks second in the Big Ten. For comparison's sake, the Terps single-season high in the Mark Turgeon era is 12.8/g in the 2013-14 season.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 16 points against George Mason to move past Jake Layman (2012-2016) for 19th all-time in scoring at Maryland with 1,440 points. The Bowie, Md., native also moved into a tie for ninth all-time in assists (460) with Dutch Morley (1978-82). Cowan is one of three players in program history with 1,400 points and 450 assists (Greivis Vasquez, John Lucas). Cowan and Cassius Winston (Michigan State) are the only Power-6 players with at least 1440 career points and 460 assists.
