COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 3 Maryland men's basketball team returns to XFINITY Center with an unblemished 8-0 record as it hosts Notre Dame in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Terps are 8-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. The Terps are seeking their first 9-0 start since 1998-99.

STORYLINES
• Maryland claimed the Orlando Invitational title with an emphatic 84-63 victory over Marquette in the finals, marking its sixth tournament title in its last seven preseason tournament appearances. The Terrapin defense, namely Darryl Morsell, was sensational in holding NCAA leading scorer Markus Howard to six points on 1 of 12 shooting.

• Maryland and Notre Dame will meet for the 21st time in history Wednesday night, with the team splitting the previous 20 matchups down the middle. The teams met nearly annually between 1975 and 1988, but have met just five times since 1999. The Terps have won the last two meetings, including the last matchup on Jan. 15, 2014, as Dez Wells scored 17 points in the 74-66 win. It was their only meeting as ACC foes.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. earned a bevy of awards for his sensational MVP performance at the Orlando Invitational, including NCAA Player of the Week and Big Ten Co-Player of the Week. Cowan averaged 24.0 points, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals in three games, including a career-high 30-point performance against Temple.

• Junior Darryl Morsell has been highly acclaimed as the Terps' "glue guy," and was excellent in the tournament, recording back-to-back double-doubles (first and second career) and serving as the primary defender in holding Markus Howard to six points on 1 of 12 shooting.

• The Terps currently lead the Big Ten in turnover ratio (+3.5) and are forcing 15.5 turnovers/g. For comparison's sake, the Terps' single-season high in the Turgeon era is 12.8/g in the 2013-14 season.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 30 points against Temple to move past Derrick Lewis (1984-1988) for 18th all-time in scoring at Maryland. He now has 1,512 points after scoring 22 vs. Marquette. The Bowie, Md., native is also 8th all-time in assists (473). Cowan is one of three players in program history with 1,500 points and 450 assists (Greivis Vasquez, John Lucas).
