COLLEGE PARK, Md. --Â Maryland will play its second non-conference tournament of this season this weekend when the Terps head to Houston, Texas for five games at the Houston Classic.
The Terps will play two games against host Houston, in addition to Nicholls State, Lousiana-Monroe and Nevada. Maryland's games vs. Houston on Friday and Saturday will be streamed on Houston's website:

TERPS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
LAST TIME OUT
- Maryland softball started the season by going 2-3 at the Trojan Classic in Troy, Alabama.
- Maryland completed the two-game sweep against the Murray State Racers, but dropped its matchups against Troy and SEC powerhouse Alabama.
- The Terps opened their season with a win (against Murray State, 6-3) for the first time since 2013 and improved their record in season-openers to 7-18.
- Junior 3B Anna Kufta ended the weekend on a high note, hitting a walk-off 2-RBI double in extra innings to dispatch Murray State and bolster her early-season stats (5 H, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 1 HR).
KEEPING TRACK OF THE TERPS
- Anna Kufta notched her 75th career hit, her 50th career RBI, and her 10th career home run this past weekend at the Trojan Classic.
- Sammie Stefan hit the first home run of her collegiate career on her first at-bat of the season against Murray State last Friday. Her two-run bomb helped lead the Terps to a 6-3 victory.
- Several other Terps set their single-game bests this past weekend at the Trojan Classic. Kufta tied her single-game highs in runs (2) and RBIs (3), Shelby Younkin tied her single-game high in hits (2), Sydney Golden tied her single-game high in innings pitched (8.0), and Stefan tied her single-game highs in hits (2), runs (1) and RBIs (2).
YOUTH MOVEMENT
- Five freshman saw game action in the first weekend of the 2019 season. Gracie Voulgaris and Taylor Okada started in all five games to start the season, Regan Kerr started in three games and played in all five, while Victoria Galvan pitched 7.1 innings through three games, Amelia Jarecke pitched two scoreless innings through two games and Caitlyn Koenig played in two games.
- Sophomores JoJo McRae, Shelby Younkin, and Taylor Wilson saw significant playing time as freshmen last season, each appearing in over 30 games. Several freshmen are set to see significant playing time again in 2019.
- Three starters return to the 2019 starting lineup in Amanda Brashear, Bailey Boyd, and Anna Kufta.
- Wright's 2019 squad features just six upperclassmen - three juniors and three seniors.
