COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 17 Maryland men's basketball team closes its regular season with a pair of home games at XFINITY Center, beginning with a matchup against No. 9 Michigan. The game will mark the 300th all-time game at the XFINITY Center, which opened in 2002-03. The Terps are 247-52 (.826) all-time in XFINITY.
STORYLINES
• Maryland has celebrated its 100th season of men's basketball throughout the year, with this weekend marking the ultimate celebration. The Terps are set to welcome back the greatest names in program history to Sunday's game. All returning players will be honored on the court throughout the game.
• Junior Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 15 points against Penn State to become just the sixth player in Maryland history to record 1,300 points and 400 assists in a career. He joined an impressive group that includes Greivis Vasquez, John Lucas, Johnny Rhodes, Walt Williams and Melo Trimble.
• Maryland freshman Aaron Wiggins matched his career-high with 15 points in Maryland's loss at Michigan earlier this season, while also posting six rebounds and three assists. Wiggins is averaging 10.6 points over his last five games, while shooting 10 of 24 (.417) from beyond the arc.
• According to NCAA.com, Maryland has played the 15th toughest schedule in the country and is expected to play the 13th toughest by regular season's end. The Terrapins have already surpassed their win total from last season despite boasting the third youngest team in the country (351 of 353) according to KenPom.com.
• Sophomore Bruno Fernando has recorded a double-double in nine of his last 11 games after posting 14 points and 10 rebounds against Ohio State. Fernando's 18 double-doubles on the season are tied for the fifth-most in program history and rank fifth nationally. A 19th double-double would tie Fernando with Buck Williams (1980-81) for fourth-most in program history.
• The Terrapins rank 15th nationally in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 39.5 percent shooting. Maryland has held four of its last six opponents under 37-percent, and rank 22nd overall in adjusted defensive efficiency according to KenPom.com.
• The Terps remain one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, ranking fifth in the country and first in the Big Ten Conference in rebound margin (+9.1).
• Bruno Fernando was named one of 10 players to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award list (top center), becoming the first Terp to be named to the list since its inception in 2015. Fernando currently leads the Big Ten Conference (8th nationally) in field goal percentage (.647), ranks second in rebounds/g (10.5) and is fourth in blocks/g (1.8).
• Terp Tendencies: Maryland has won all 21 games it has played when leading with 5:00 to play; Maryland is 14-0 when holding opponents under 40-percent shooting; Maryland is 16-2 when Jalen Smith scores 10+ points.
