Micaela Abbatine hit her third home run of the season and
Gracie Voulgaris drove in her 24th season RBI, but Maryland (20-26, 4-14 Big Ten) fell to Nebraska (18-28, 6-12 Big Ten) as senior infielder Madi Unzicker hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the walk-off run-rule victory for the Huskers.
The Terps were limited to just three hits on the day, notched by Abbatine, Voulgaris and
Taylor Wilson. Senior right-hander
Sydney Golden got the start in the circle for Maryland, tossing two innings, allowing four runs on two hits. Redshirt freshman
Victoria Galvan pitched two more innings, allowing six runs on three hits, and
Sami Main allowed the game-winning home run.
Nebraska's freshman pitcher Lindsey Walljasper went the distance, pitching the complete game and striking out three.
Maryland plays the second game of the series tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. eastern.Â
