Maryland Drops Saturday Contest to Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Maryland softball team was shutout by Nebraska Saturday, falling to the Huskers, 14-0 in five innings.

Sammie Stefan notched the only hit of the day for the Terps, hitting a low line drive through the right side in the first inning. Maryland had just four baserunners on the day, two reaching on Husker errors and another on a fielder's choice.

Nebraska was held scoreless in the first inning, but scored four runs in the second on a couple RBI base knocks, a sacrifice fly, and a bases-loaded walk. Nebraska scored just one run in the third, but exploded for nine runs in the fourth as the Huskers bat around the lineup, scoring all of their runs with two outs away.

Kiana Carr started in the circle for the Terps and was credited with the loss. Victoria Galvan pitched 2.1 innings in relief.

Maryland and Nebraska will tangle for the final game of the series tomorrow at noon ET on the Big Ten Network.
