COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The second-ranked Maryland field hockey team (1-0) will host New Hampshire (0-1) Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md. Admission and parking are both free.

• Sunday is Youth Team Day. All youth teams can submit their rosters to the marketing table at the game and the team with the highest attendance will win free T-shirts. Pinnies will be given out to youth teams while supplies last. Youth teams can also get a concessions voucher for ice cream.

•  All fans are invited to stay for an autograph and meet and greet session with the Terps.

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW

• Maryland beat Richmond, 5-1, Friday night in its season opener in College Park. Four Terrapins combined for five goals, led by junior Kyler Greenwalt, who scored twice in her return from an injury last year.

• Maryland is ranked No. 2 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Preseason poll released Tuesday. The Terrapins have been ranked in the top 5 in 207 of 214 polls, dating back to 1999.

• The Terrapins return eight of 11 starters from last year, including the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in Keus and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in Bibi Donraadt. Keus also earned NFHCA First Team All-America honors.

• The Terps went 22-3 in 2018, advancing to their second straight NCAA Championship game. They won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles as well.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

• New Hampshire went 6-12 last season. The Wildcats fell at American, 4-2, Friday afternoon. Finn Carol
scored both goals.
• Bloem van de Brekel is the Wildcats' leading returning scorer with seven goals last year.
• Maryland leads the all-time series at 6-0.
• The Terps won their last meeting, 5-2, in College Park on Sept. 20, 2015.

• Maryland was tabbed as the No. 2 team in the country in the latest Penn Monto/Division I Coaches Preseason poll released Aug. 27.

B1G TERPS

The Terrapins joined the Big Ten conference in 2014, after playing in the ACC for 31 years. Big Ten field hockey is the largest conference in the history of the sport in the NCAA with nine teams - Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland.

• The Terps are 129-39-3 (.762) all-time against Big Ten opponents.

• Head coach Missy Meharg is 111-19-1 (.912) vs. Big Ten opponents in her 32 years at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program.

• Since joining the league in 2014, the Terps are 46-8 in conference play.

• The Terrapins are 44-3 (.936) vs. Big Ten teams at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

• The Terrapins won the first Big Ten title for the University of Maryland with a 4-1 win over No. 14 Iowa on Nov. 1, 2014 in College Park.

HOME SWEET HOME

Since its opening in 2003, the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has provided the Maryland hockey program a huge home field advantage.

• The Terps are 179-20 (.900) all-time at the Complex.

• Maryland won 38 straight games at the Complex from Oct.11, 2008 through Oct. 14, 2011. The streak ended with a 5-2 loss to then-No. 1 Old Dominion.

• The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has played home to 28 of Maryland's NCAA Tournament games and has played host to three Final Fours (2007, 2010, 2014). The Terrapins are 25-3 in those games and won the 2010 national title on their home field.

PACK THE HOUSE

• The Maryland field hockey team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex season after season. The Terrapins have led the nation in attendance in five of the last eight years.

• An NCAA-record crowd of 2,381 came out to watch as Maryland beat North Carolina 3-2 in double overtime for the 2010 national championship at the Complex.

THREE TERPS EARN PRESEASON BIG TEN HONORS
• Graduate student Jen Bleakney, senior Madison Maguire and junior Bodil Keus earned Big Ten Preseason Honors this week. The full list, click HERE.

• Keus was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season and earned NFHCA First Team All-America honors. She scored nine goals with seven assists and three defensive saves in 2018.

• Maguire notched seven goals, including an overtime game winner over No. 5 Connecticut to send the Terps to their 19th Final Four. She picked up 12 assists on the year and earned NFHCA All-Mid Atlantic Region honors..

• Bleakney comes to the Terrapins from Syracuse, where she tallied 11 goals and six assists in three seasons.

• Bleakney and Keus were voted team co-captains by their peers.

OVERTIME IS TERPS TIME

During Missy Meharg's tenure, the Terrapins have become one of the nation's most dangerous teams in overtime.

• The Terps are 67-25 (.728) all-time in games that went to overtime or penalty strokes.

• In Meharg's tenure, the Terps are 56-21 (.727) in overtime or penalty strokes games.

STAFF UPDATES
• The Terrapins welcome two new assistant staff members and former Terrapins in 2019. Janessa Pope will serve as the team's director of operations and Sarah Holliday is a student assistant coach.

• Pope played for the Terrapins from 2009-2012 and won two NCAA Championships in her career. She graduated with her degree in hearing and speech sciences and works at a local elementary school as a speech language pathologist for preschoolers.

• Holliday played for the Terrapins from 2015-2018 and started in 74 career games. She notched 261 career saves. She is finishing her degree in psychology.

TERPS ON NATIONAL TEAMS

• Thirteen Terrapins, former and present, are currently on USA Field Hockey's national team rosters.

• Jill (Witmer) Funk competed with Team USA in the Rio Olympics along with former volunteer assistant coach Stefanie Fee. Former Terrapin Megan Frazer is on the Irish National Team.

• Recent grads Linnea Gonzales, Anna Dessoye and Alyssa Parker are on the U.S. Women's National Team. The won bronze in the Pan American games this summer.

• Seniors Kelee Lepage, Madison Maguire and recent grad Sabrina Rhodes are on the U.S. Developmental Squad.

• Current Terps Brooke DeBerdine and Kyler Greenwalt are on the U.S. Under-21 Team. Emma DeBerdine, Belle Bressler and Riley Donnelly are on the U.S. U-19 Team.
