ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia scored four second half goals, along with one in the first to secure a 5-0 win over Maryland at the Bulldog Classic Sunday.
UMD came out of the gate with energy, earning possession in Georgia's defensive half but unable to come away with any looks on goal.
The Bulldogs weathered the early pressure and earned a series of corners in the 21st minute, before Reagan Glisson slotted a goal on her third straight corner kick. The ball from the left side was placed perfectly into the near post, catching goalkeeper Erin Seppi out of position.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Maryland again played with purpose at the start of the second half, but couldn't produce any scoring chances for an equalizer. Georgia tallied two goals in quick succession, as Abby Boyan and Delaney Erwin netted scores in the 57th and 59th minute.
A late goal in the 81st minute added insurance for the Bulldogs.
Maryland will return to action in College Park this week with a matchup against George Mason on Thursday, September 5. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm.
