January 18, 2020 || College Park, Md. || 2:00 p.m. EDT

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 17 Maryland men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of XFINITY Center Saturday afternoon as it hosts Purdue at 2:00 pm on ESPN2 and the Maryland Sports Radio Network.

STORYLINES
• The Terps snapped a five-game losing streak to the Boilermakers last season when Jalen Smith poured in 16 points in a 70-56 Maryland victory in College Park on Feb. 12, 2019. Anthony Cowan Jr. averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 assists in two meetings last year.

• The Terps checked in at No. 18 in the latest edition of the NET rankings, and have played the 4th-toughest strength of schedule to this point according to NET. The Big Ten has 12 teams in the NET top-50 - the most of any conference in the country. The other power-6 conferences have the following number of top-50 teams in the NET: Big East (6), SEC (6), ACC (5), Pac-12 (5), Big 12 (4).

• All-American candidate Anthony Cowan Jr. has scored at least 16 points in 10 of his last 13 games, and at least 20 points in five of those games. Cowan currently leads the Big Ten in both free throws made (83) and attempted (109). He was recently named to the Wooden Award top-25 list.

• Sophomore Jalen Smith has reached double-figures in 15-of-17 games, and nine straight dating back to Dec. 4. He has shot 9 of 14 (.643) from 3-point range in conference action. Smith currently ranks third in the Big Ten in double-doubles (8).

• The Terrapins are 11-0 when scoring at least 70 points, and have been credited for their stifling defense this year. Maryland has held its opponent under 40-percent shooting in all three B1G wins.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. (1,650 pts) ranks 14th on Maryland's scoring list and next looks to pass Melo Trimble (1,658). The Bowie, Md., became the seventh player in program history to reach 500 assists against Iowa. Cowan is one of three active players in the "Power-6" plus American that has at least 1,600 points and 500 assists (Cassius Winston, Payton Pritchard).

• The Terps rank second in the conference in free throws made (284) and attempted (394), and rank third in fewest fouls (15.0/g) and defensive rebounds (28.4/g).
