Incoming Freshman Dowler Earns Andi Collins Award

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Incoming freshman Sydney Dowler earned PrepVolleyball.com's 2019 Andi Collins Award, presented to the nation's top senior setter.

"I'm thrilled for Sydney to receive this prestigious award," Head Coach Adam Hughes said. "Year after year, the Andi Collins Award is chosen from an incredibly talented group of finalists who excel both on and off the court. We couldn't be more excited to call the country's best senior setter a Terp and can't wait to have her here on campus for classes Monday."

The Cary, North Carolina native is a Third Team Under Armour All-American, four-time state MVP, and three-time Max Preps All-American setter out of Green Hope HS. She led the Falcons to four consecutive state titles and a 117-6 record in her four seasons as a setter.

Dowler was a member of the USA Volleyball Select National Training Camp in 2014 and 2015, and a member of the USA Volleyball A1 Training Camp in 2016. The 2020 PrepVolleyball Senior Ace (#63) was also the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018.

Dowler is enrolled in spring classes at the University of Maryland and will be eligible to participate in spring practice with the Terps. Classes for the University's spring term start Monday, Jan. 27.
