McFadden Phipps Inducted Into USL Chesapeake Hall of Fame

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Maryland women's lacrosse assistant coach and 2010 Tewaaraton winner Caitlyn McFadden Phipps was inducted into the Chesapeake Chapter of US Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Thursday night.

Phipps was enshrined in the hall of fame as part of a five person class ceremony at the Annapolis Elks Lodge on Thursday. An assistant coach at Maryland since 2012, Phipps has helped lead the Terps to four national championships, seven final fours and 12 conference championships, while coaching six Tewaaraton winners, five National Midfielders of the Year, one National Attack Player of the Year and 12 Conference Players of the Year.

As a student-athlete at Maryland, then Caitlyn McFadden became Maryland's first Tewaaraton recipient in nine years when she took home lacrosse's most prestigious award after leading the Terps to the 2010 National Championship. In addition to winning the Tewaaraton, Phipps was a two-time IWLCA First Team All-American, two-time ACC Player of the Year, two-time ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2010.

"I enjoyed seeing where Caitlyn took her own career to finish as a national champion and Tewaaraton winner," said head coach Cathy Reese. "It's a huge credit to her dedication, determination and hard work. Caitlyn was truly the complete package, solid and strong on both ends of the field. I think that is why she was ultimately named the best player in women's lacrosse."

Phipps was recently named to the Maryland All-Decade Team and was also a longtime member of the United States national team, earning gold medals at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic and the 2013 World Cup in Oshawa, Canada.
