LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Maryland senior guard
Anthony Cowan Jr. has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Men's Midseason Top 25, chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts.
The Wooden Award was created in 1976 and recognizes the nation's most outstanding player.
An All-American candidate, Cowan has proven to be one of the best and most clutch players in the country while leading the Terrapins to a 13-2 start.
The Bowie, Md., native leads the Big Ten Conference in free throws made and attempted, while ranking fourth in scoring (16.4/g). He is one assist from reaching 500 for his career, and will join Cassius Winston as the only players in the "Power-6" with 1,600 points and 500 assists.
Cowan earned his undergraduate degree in three years and is currently pursuing his master's in entrepreneurial technology.
Cowan and the Terps return to action Friday night against Iowa at 7:00 pm in Iowa City.
