COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team is set to host Navy Friday, Nov. 27, in College Park at 3:00 pm on B1G Network. The Terrapins opened the season with an 85-67 victory over Old Dominion, marking the program's 44th consecutive home-opening win since 1977-78.

NAVY STORYLINES

Dominant at home
  • Maryland has been dominant at home over the last three seasons, collecting a 47-7 (.870) overall record. The program's 47 wins during that span are the most in the Big Ten Conference. The Terps are also 53-6 in non-conference home games over the last seven seasons, including nine straight wins dating back to 2018.

AYALA FINISHES PERFECT
  • Junior Eric Ayala impressed in his season debut against Old Dominion, scoring a game-high 19 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting, including 4 3-pointers from beyond the arc. The strong performance carried over from the season finale last season, when Ayala scored 19 points to help the Terps clinch the Big Ten Championship against Michigan.

10 YEARS OF TURGEON
  • Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon is set to begin his 10th season at the helm for the Terrapins, having led the program to more than 20 wins in five of the last six seasons. Turgeon's .652 winning percentage in Big Ten Conference play ranks sixth all-time among coaches with at least 50 wins, trailing only Bo Ryan, Bob Knight, Tom Izzo and Thad Matta.

VETERANS PUT ON A SHOW 
  • In addition to Ayala, the rest of Maryland's "knowns" picked up right where they left off a season ago agaisnt Old Dominion, as sophomore Donta Scott scored a career-high 14 points, senior Darryl Morsell added 12 points and eight rebounds and junior Aaron Wiggins dropped 12 points.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland and Navy have a long history as foes, dating back to their inaugural meeting on the 1924-25 season. The Terps hold a 31-27 all-time advantage in the series, including 11 consecutive victories dating back to 1970. Friday's meeting marks the first matchup in College Park between the teams since Jan. 31, 1983, when Adrian Branch scored 20 points in a 98-73 victory at Cole Field House. Len Bias added 10 points and eight rebounds.
