PURDUE STORYLINES

DONTA IS DEALING
  • Sophomore Donta Scott has reached double-figures in 6-of-7 games and leads the team in rebounds (7.1). Over his last five games, the Philadelphia native is averaging 14.6 points and shooting  67-percent from the field.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
  • The Terps led from wire-to-wire in their final non-conference matchup, defeating La Salle, 84-71, Tuesday evening. The story of the game was Maryland's ball security, as it turned the ball over just four times. It was the fewest turnovers for the Terps in the Mark Turgeon era, and the fewest overall since committing just four turnovers against Virginia on Feb. 4, 1993.

10 YEARS OF TURGEON
  • Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon is in his 10th season at the helm for the Terrapins, having led the program to more than 20 wins in five of the last six seasons. Turgeon's .646 (73-40) winning percentage in Big Ten Conference play ranks fifth all-time among coaches with at least 50 wins since 1980, trailing only Bo Ryan, Bob Knight, Tom Izzo and Thad Matta.

The Maryland Terrapins play Navy at the Xfinity Center on November 27, 2020.
ELECTRIC AYALA
  • Junior Eric Ayala scored a career-high 23 points in the win over La Salle, knocking down 13-of-15 free throw attempts. It was the most free throw attempts in a game for a Terrapin since Melo Trimble attempted 15 against Northwestern in 2017. Ayala, who averaged just 8.6 points through his first two seasons, is currently averaging a team-high 14.6 points/g.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland and Purdue have met just nine times in history, with the Boilermakers holding a narrow 5-4 advantage in the series. The Terrapins have won the last two matchups, however, as Donta Scott and Aaron Wiggins combined for 25 points in last season's lone meeting. Maryland is looking for its first win at Mackey Arena since its inaugural season in the conference in 2015.
