COLLEGE PARK, Md. -  The No. 9 Maryland men's basketball team rolls out the red carpet for ESPN Saturday as it hosts No. 24 Michigan State with a chance to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten Conference title. ESPN's College GameDay returns to College Park for the first time since 2005 for its live show.

STORYLINES

• With a win, the Terps would claim their first Big Ten Championship and first conference title since winning the ACC regular season in 2009-10. Overall, it would be Maryland's seventh conference regular season championship. Maryland's last outright title was in 2001-02.

• Maryland rallied for a dramatic 74-73 victory Thursday at Minnesota, as Darryl Morsell completed a game-ending 10-1 run with a game-winning 3-pointer with one second remaining. Maryland is just the second team in the last 20 years to overcome a halftime deficit of 14+ points three times in one season, and has won four Big Ten games when trailing with 5:00 to play.

• All-American candidate Jalen Smith has recorded a double-double in 10 of his last 11 games. His 18 double-doubles rank fifth nationally and is tied for the 6th-most in program season history. Over his last 11 games, Smith is averaging 17.6 points (56% FG), 12.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.

• Maryland is 15-0 at home this season, and has won 16 consecutive overall in XFINITY. The Terps' 45 home wins over the last three seasons are the most in the Big Ten Conference, with Ohio State (43) trailing just behind. Maryland's last 15-0 start at home was in 2001-02, when it won the NCAA title.

• Through Feb. 26 games, the Terps are No. 10 in the NET rankings, and first in the Big Ten. Maryland is 13-5 against quad 1&2 opponents, with all five losses coming to quad 1 opponents. Maryland also ranks ninth according to KenPom, featuring the 12th-best defensive efficiency in the country.

• Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon boasts a 73-37 (.662) career record in Big Ten games. The win percentage ranks fourth among coaches with 50 wins over the last 40 years, trailing only Bo Ryan (.717), Bob Knight (.700) and Tom Izzo (.692).

• All-American candidate Anthony Cowan Jr. officially became the Terps' "Ironman" in Thursday's game at Minnesota, as he made his program-record 127th consecutive start. Cowan ranks third in Maryland history having played 33.7 minutes/g for his career and is second all-time in free throws made (568). Cowan is four rebounds from becoming just the second player in Big Ten history (Talor Battler - PSU) to record 1,800 points, 500 assists and 500 rebounds.
