AUSTIN, Texas -- Maryland dropped a pair of games at the Texas Classic to open the 2020 season on Thursday afternoon at McCombs Field. New head coach
Mark Montgomery made his debut at the helm of the Terps.
The Terps lost the opener, 8-0, to Wichita State in six innings.
Anna Kufta and
Gracie Voulgaris had hits in the defeat.
In the nightcap, Maryland fell to No. 6 Texas, 17-0, in five innings.
Regan Kerr had a hit and a stolen base for the Terps.
Katie Dustin,
Campbell Kline,
Taylor Liguori,
Trinity Schlotterbeck and
Courtney Wyche all made their collegiate debuts on Thursday.
On Friday, the Terps return to McCombs Field at 4:30 p.m. ET, to face off against Colorado State fon day two of the Texas Classic.
