Schlotterbeck Named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Freshman pitcher Trinity Schlotterbeck earned Co-Big Ten Freshman of the week honors in a release announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is the first freshman weekly honor for a Maryland softball player since joining the Big Ten. It is also just the second-ever Big Ten weekly honor for a Terp. In 2015, Lindsey Schmeiser was named Big Ten Player of the Week on March 16.

Schlotterbeck went 3-0 with a 0.97 ERA inside the circle and recorded one save in a 4-1 weekend at the Panther Invitational. In 21 2/3 innings pitched, she allowed just three runs, 11 hits, and recorded nine strikeouts in her four appearances inside the circle.

Schlotterbeck was the winning pitcher in two shutout victories over Ball State and Tulsa, and gave up no runs in three of the four games she pitched in.

Maryland returns to action this upcoming weekend in the Cherry Blossom Classic at George Mason University, Mar. 13-15.
