This summer, University of Maryland student-athletes will gain unique career experience in the InTERPship Academy, the athletic department's summer internship program that is part of the Gossett fellowship. In its sixth year, the program educates, develops, and prepares student-athletes for life after competition through internship experiences and career readiness initiatives.
There are 13 student-athletes across nine sports participating in this summer's InTERPship Academy, which began on June 1 and will conclude on July 24. Some student-athletes will be interning within the Maryland's Intercollegiate Athletic department, while others are interning with outside organizations.
Alexis Hogarth

Alexis Hogarth is a Maryland native, who just finished her third year at UMD. She will be a senior on the women’s soccer team this fall and acted as a team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) this past year. She is studying to receive her B.A. in psychology and is a two-time Big Ten All-Academic honoree.
During her years at Maryland, she has become one of the leaders on her team and helped coach aspiring Maryland soccer players at camps. Last summer, she worked with the Maryland football program as an operations intern assisting with the essential tasks needed to support the program in preparation for its fall 2019 season.

Hunter Baxter is a rising senior on the varsity wrestling team. Last season, he competed at 141 lbs and started for the Terrapins. Hunter will be entering his 16th season in wrestling. Hunter is a driven young man who has always enjoyed the STEM field and its classes. Along with this InTERPship, Hunter has also worked alongside two Physician Assistants, a Director in Emergency Medical Services, and finally a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
Baxter won the ICA Academic Achievement Award, the wrestling team's academic award, multiple years of Big-Ten All-Conference Academic Award, and many Dean's List appearances.
Nadia Hackett

Nadia Hackett is a part of the women's track and field team. She specializes in hurdles and sprints and has earned top-ten all-time performances in all her events. Hackett is pursuing a bachelor's degree in public health science along a pre-medical track.
At the University of Maryland, Hackett is a team representative in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Within this role, she works with the Share the Shell committee to give back through community service to the College Park and Prince George's County communities. Within her major, Hackett serves as a Public Health Science Ambassador. She serves as a panelist for open houses and helps create initiatives to keep students informed about the major.
Katie Dustin

Katie Dustin is a junior on the University of Maryland softball team and is currently a double major in economics within the Behavioral and Social Sciences College. She hopes to one day investigate white-collar crimes with her double major or stay involved with college athletics. Dustin is a catcher on the softball team who tore her ACL as a freshman and is planning to use her extra year of eligibility at the University of Maryland. In the classroom, she is an active learner and enjoys taking classes year-round to keep up with her studies and learn as much as she can about investing.
Outside of her life as a student-athlete, Dustin is the eldest of three girls and owns three French bulldogs that are her pride and joy. She has a surplus of hobbies, and her favorite pastime is scuba diving.

Anissa Mose is a senior on the women's soccer team and is studying criminology and criminal justice. A Prince George's County native, she grew up attending many events on campus over the years.
She is a member of the Student Success Leadership Committee, which is geared towards developing young black leaders. Mose is also a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honors Society. This past semester, she was an undergraduate teacher's assistant and plans to continue that next spring. This past school year, she served as a Co-Chair for the student-athlete engagement committee of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and as a member of her team's leadership council, all while attaining honor roll every semester thus far and has a 3.5 GPA.

Lena Capoccia is a native of Bethesda, Md. Living so close to College Park, Lena has been a Terps fan her entire life. Ultimately, Lena's innate Maryland Pride led her to choose the University of Maryland to play collegiate golf and continue her education. Currently, Capoccia is entering her third year at the University of Maryland.
In the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, Lena's dedication to academics will allow her to finish her undergraduate degree in marketing after only three years of study and begin her master's degree in marketing analytics from the Robert H. Smith School of Business in the fall.
Capoccia has become involved in various co-curricular activities during her time at UMD. This past year, she served as a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), sat on the Student-Athlete Engagement committee within SAAC, and is an active member of the Women in Business Association. Additionally, she will begin working within the 2020 cohort of the Gossett Fellows Program this fall.

Caleb Dean is a rising sophomore on the track and field team, pursuing a degree in Kinesiology. Dean was born in Prince George's County and attended Dematha Catholic High School.
Growing up, Dean wanted to play Division I football. He didn't even have the thought of track in his head until his parents suggested it. To play Division I football, Dean's parents said he would have to run track to get faster. He started to run track at the age of nine while continuing to play football. Dean would run track in the winter and spring and play football in the fall. Up until his 10th grade of high school, he decided to quit football and focus on track. When it was time for him to make a decision, he decided to attend the University of Maryland because it was close to home.
Dean has two younger sisters.

Belle Bressler is a rising sophomore student-athlete on the field hockey team. She was born in Leesport, Pa., and graduated from Berks Catholic High School. Bressler's two aunts and uncle played field hockey and soccer at Maryland and have instilled a love for the Terps in her. She is involved in the USA Field Hockey program after becoming a member of the U17 and U19 national teams.
Bressler is also involved with the Team Impact Program. Although her major is undecided, she plans on applying to the Smith School of Business at the end of her sophomore year to major in marketing.
In her free time, Bressler enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves running or hiking. She is excited to work with First Touch Africa this summer.

Taylor Wilson is a fourth-year kinesiology major on the softball team. She is passionate about access, equity, and inclusion in sports. Wilson is a member of the Gossett Fellows program and has served on SAAC as both a team representative and executive board member. After graduating in May 2021, she plans on pursuing a master's degree in sports administration.
Having participated in numerous community service events within athletics and on campus, Wilson plans on pursuing a career where she can blend her love for sports with her passion for helping others. She was voted by teammates to serve as a team captain for the 2019-2020 season. As a senior, she is looking forward to leaving a legacy at Maryland that inspires future terps on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Darryl Morsell is a rising senior from Baltimore, Md. Morsell is a guard on the men’s basketball team and is currently studying family science. After graduation, Morsell plans to pursue a career in counseling.
Morsell grew up as the only child in a two-parent household. He always played multiple sports but discovered his craft for basketball in middle school and began to focus the sport. Morsell also found his passion for giving back to others in high school, which is why he wants to pursue a career in helping give back to the younger generations.

Alyssa Poarch is a rising senior on the women's soccer team. She is studying economics and is hoping to pursue a career within athletics. She is from the small state of Delaware, where she graduated from Middletown High School.
During her time at Maryland, Poarch served for two years as an active team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The committee allowed her to practice leadership and communication skills and be involved in numerous volunteer efforts.
This summer, Poarch is very excited to work with Maryland Made and hopes to gain a clearer understanding of the programs available to student-athletes, learn more about program development, and research creative new ideas as programs are revamped to accommodate new projects.
Emma Johnson

Emma Johnson is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland and former women's gymnastics team member. Johnson studied communication with a focus in public relations and graduated in May 2020. She was the PR Director for the school's Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter as well as the marketing and branding intern for student-athlete development last summer.
Johnson was a 4x scholar-athlete and 3x Dean's List recipient. She received All-Big Ten Academic Honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019 as well as the Marketing Academic Merit Award in 2016. This year she was awarded the ICA Academic Achievement Award, recognizing the junior or senior with the highest GPA on each team with a minimum of 3.0.
Johnson grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and is the eldest of three girls. Her interests include music and cycling. She hopes to pursue a career in sports PR at a large agency or professional team.
Cheyanne Jones

Cheyenne Jones will be a senior at the University of Maryland for the upcoming 2020 fall semester. She is in the Robert H. Smith School of Business, pursuing her bachelor's degree in business management. At UMD, Jones is a track and field student-athlete specializing in the 400-meter dash. In that event, she individually placed 7th at the B1G Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2018.
Jones is a member of the Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA), a Gossett Fellow and an active attendee to Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) meetings. Since spring 2019, Jones has been an intern in the athletic marketing department at UMD during the academic year. This department earned the 2020 marketing team of the year.
In her free time, Jones enjoys watching professional sports teams, Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers. She is an avid music listener and a sweet tea enthusiast.
