COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team welcomes No. 5 Iowa to XFINITY Center for an 7:00 p.m. matchup on ESPN2. The Terps are in search of their first top-5 victory since defeating No. 3 Iowa on Jan. 28, 2016. The game will also be broadcasted live on the Maryland Sports Radio Network.

  • Sophomore Donta Scott set an XFINITY Center record Thursday evening when he connected on all five 3-point attempts. He joined Justin Jackson (2017 at Minnesota) as the only Terps in the Mark Turgeon era to go 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Over his last eight games, Scott is averaging 14.9 points and shooting 59-percent from 3-point range.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland is 7-4 all-time against Iowa in a series that dates back to 1984, when Maryland defeated Iowa in Honolulu on Christmas Day. The Terrapins have won five of the last seven meetings, including two straight at home. Maryland was victorious in the most recent meeting, with Aaron Wiggins scoring 14 points and adding five rebounds.

  • The Terps are in the midst of a nine-game stretch that includes seven matchups against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top-25. All seven of those teams are currently ranked in the top-16. It would mark the first time in Maryland history it would play a span of nine games against seven teams all ranked in the top-16.

  •  The Terrapins currently rank 16th nationally and fourth in the Big Ten committing just 10.4 turnovers/g. Maryland has turned the ball over more than 10 times just once in the past six games. It continues a positive trend for the Terrapins in the category over the last four seasons: 2017-18 (13.7/g), 2018-19 (12.9/g), 2019-20 (11.4/g), 2020-21 (10.4/g).
