CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Maryland women's tennis team wrapped up the 2021 ITA Atlantic Super Regionals on Monday, with some solid performances in singles and a great run in the doubles draw for the Terps.

The Terps started the weekend off hot in doubles play, with partners Mary Brumfield and Selma Cadar defeating Camilla Bossi and Ting-Pei Chang of WVU, 8-3. Pair Jojo Bach and Marta Perez Mur kept the winning streak alive, taking down fellow conference rival Penn State's Yvonna Zuffova and Alina Lebedeva 8-4.

In day one of singles play, Perez Mur earned a victory for the Terps and a spot in the round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Avantika Willy (Georgetown). Bach then added another to the win column for Maryland, taking down the No.120 nationally ranked, Esther Lovato (Liberty)  6-4, 6-2. Newcomers Francesca Feodorov and Brumfield put up valiant efforts, but each fell in their respective round of 32 matchups. Cadar battled it out against No. 3 seed Elaine Chervinksy of UVA, but ultimately falling in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-7(4) nail biter. 

In the round of 16, Bach fell to No.97 ranked Mila Saric (William & Mary) 3-6, 7-5. In the consolation bracket, Cadar redeemed herself by defeating Taggart (Navy) 6-3 6-1 and PSU's Gabby O'Gorman 6-4, 7-6(6). Perez Mur was then defeated by UVA's Melodie Collard in the round of 16. 

In the doubles quarterfinals, Perez Mur and Bach defeated No. 2 seed and No.4 nationally ranked duo of Natasha Subhash and Sofia Munera of UVA 8-7(6) after saving four consecutive match points in the tiebreak to come back and take the win. In the semis, the two put up a battle against Collard and Hibah Shaikh, ultimately falling 3-6, 4-6. Cadar and Brumfield fell in the quarterfinals in a 8-7(4) heartbreaker to No. 1 seed Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Yulia Starodubsteva of ODU. 

The Tennis Terps will be back in action on Friday, October 29 as they compete in the Roberta Alison Classic in Tuscaloosa, AL.
