The Director for Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience will report to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience. This position will oversee the marketing plan development and implementation, sponsor activation and game presentation for Football and Women's Lacrosse. The Director will also collaborate with the Senior Assistant Athletic Director to establish creative marketing and advertising strategies centered around maximizing revenue generation. It will also provide marketing supervision to six additional sports programs, including Men's Lacrosse, Men's Soccer and Wrestling, with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance and enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand.
Additional responsibilities include: Oversight of Assistant Director for Marketing & Fan Experience (Men's Soccer & Men's Lacrosse), Marketing Assistant (Women's Soccer & Baseball) and Student Interns (Wrestling & Gymnastics); Assisting the Senior Assistant AD with media trade; Partner with Associate Director of Communications to coordinate social media marketing campaigns; Planning/promotion/execution of Maryland Football Spring Game and all other fan engagement events, including Terp Alley, Planning and execution of the "Welcome to the B1G Show" student welcome event; Collaborate with Broadcasting & Production unit to create TV and radio spots that promote ticket sales, as well as creative in-game video elements that maximize both student-athlete and fan experience; Execution of game day operations, fan development and revenue generation initiatives for Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball and various Olympic Sports; Direct involvement in creative fan engagement and branding initiatives; Collaborate with the Athletic Ticket Office and the fan relationship management center (FRMC) to develop ticket sales campaigns and identify new prospects to maximize revenue generation; Serve as Maryland Athletics representative on the University's Homecoming Planning committee; Manage and oversee execution of grassroots marketing efforts/initiatives; Mascot Program Oversight; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required in sports management, marketing, advertising or other related field and a minimum of five (5) years of sports marketing experience required. Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop. Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends. Minimum of four (4) years of sports marketing experience preferably at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level.
