  • This report starts with a nod to Maryland's 28-year head coach Sasho Cirovski on winning his 400th match at Maryland today. If you'd told the Boss his 400th Terp win would come on March 11 in an indoor facility in Brighton, Mich., he would've not believed you (or would he? Two semester model...). An incredible accomplishment for one of the greatest coaches in the history of his sport and of his school.
  • Cirovski's two most senior players lifted him to the milestone victory. Mike Heitzmann and Paul Bin have a combined 11 years of association with Maryland soccer and their experience proved valuable as both tallied their first goals of the season Thursday.
  • It looked like the Terps would be on the board through a newcomer early on. A Michigan hand ball in the box gave the Terps a penalty kick chance in the fifth minute. Freshman Joe Suchecki, who had scored on a PK in the opener against Penn State, had his spot kick saved by Owen Finnerty to keep the score level at 0-0.
  • Finnerty's day would end minutes later. The Michigan goalkeeper was issued a straight red card in the eighth minute which gave the Terps a man advantage for the remainder of the match.
  • Heitzmann found his tally off service from Nick Richardson in the 15th minute. It was the second goal of the redshirt senior's career.
  • Bin also found his goal off a helper from Richardson in the 71st minute. The goal was Bin's first since 2018.
  • The Terps gave one right back in the 73rd minute as Michigan found a goal through Jackson Ragen. Maryland was able to see out the remainder of proceedings and claim a key three points in the Big Ten standings.
  • Justin Harris earned his first start of the season. Jacob Chakroun played a season high 15 minutes.
From The Boss
"I am ecstatic with the result against a good Michigan team. Our guys are starting to feel their connectivity and it is showing in our play on both sides of the ball. We benefited from the Michigan red card, but credit Michigan with a tremendous effort until the last minute. Nick Richardson had two fantastic services from right back, his natural position. To see our seniors in Mike and Paul score was a reward for their effort throughout the match." - Sasho Cirovski
