PENN STATE STORYLINES

STAY HOT DARRYL
  • Senior Darryl Morsell has been extremely efficient on the offensive end over the last three games, reaching double-figures in every game during the span (12.3 pts/g) on .714 shooting while averaging 3.7 assists. The Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year candidate has been the Terrapins' premier on-ball defender for three seasons while also becoming the 56th player in program history to reach 1,000 points.

DEVASTATING DEFENSE
  • The Maryland defense has not allowed an opponent to score more than 61 points in nine of its last 11 games dating back to Jan. 23. Over its last 11 games, Maryland's opponents are averaging just 59.3 points on 37.0-percent shooting, including 30.9-percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Maryland's defensive field goal percentage during that 11-game span is the best in the Big Ten Conference.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland is 8-1 all-time against the Nittany Lions in College Park, with its lone loss in the series being in 1962. This marks the first meeting between the teams at XFINITY Center since Dec. 1, 2018. Since becoming Big Ten foes in 2014-15, all four games in College Park have been decided by seven points or less.

WINNING WAYS
  • The Maryland basketball program secured its 28th consecutive winning season with its victory over Michigan State. It is the fourth-longest active streak in the country, trailing only Kansas (38), Arizona (37) and Kentucky. Kentucky's streak is in jeopardy, however, as it currently has an 8-15 record through March 5. It also marked Mark Turgeon's 19th consecutive winning season as a Division I head coach.
