ANN ARBOR, MI. - The Michigan Wolverines topped Maryland softball in its double header on Saturday, taking game one 2-0, and game two 5-1.
The Terps put up a valiant effort against Michigan, with defense keeping them to only two runs throughout game one. Sophomore pitcher
Courtney Wyche remained in the game for Maryland throughout six innings, recording five strikeouts. As a whole, the Terps recorded hits from
Jaeda McFarland,
Taylor Okada and
Katie Dustin.Â
In game two, Maryland was first to get on the board after scoring on a double steal with
Gracie Voulgaris at bat. The Terps defense then sent the Wolverines down in order to maintain their one lead run heading into the third frame. In the bottom of the inning, Michigan tallied a run of their own to tie things at one a piece.
A single up the middle from Michigan brought two runners home, stretching the lead. Maryland was unable to come back after an additional two runs from the Wolverines over the next two innings, falling in game two 5-1.
