ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Maryland softball fell to Michigan 8-0 in five innings on Sunday, bringing the weekend total to 4-0 for the Wolverines. The Terps managed to put up three runs against the top-rated Big Ten team, including a homer from
Regan Kerr, just the second against Michigan's Meghan Beaubien this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Michigan came out swinging in their first appearance of the game after the Terps went down in order, tallying two runs on three hits including a homer from Lou Allan
- The Wolverines kept the homer streak going, with Taylor Bump sending one out of the park in the bottom of the second to put Michigan up 3-0 over the Terps
- Allan recorded her second home run on the day in the bottom of the third, and a single from Bump brought two runners home to extend Michigan's lead to 6-0
- In the top of the fourth, junior Taylor Okada singled to center field to get on base, followed by a hit from Trinity Schlotterbeck to put two Terps on, but Michigan's defense kept Maryland from making it back around
- In the bottom of the same frame, Michigan recorded two runs on another four hits to bring their total runs to 8 on the day
- The Terps put up a fight in the top of the fifth, with Shelby Younkin and Taylor Wislon making it on base after a single and throwing error on Michigan, but it wasn't enough to extend the game
- Michigan took the Terrapins in five innings, 8-0
