COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland (10-0) dominated the Akron Zips on Friday night with yet another 3-0 win on the season.
Rainelle Jones dominated the first set as she accounted for two kills and five blocks with
Sam Csire and
Paula Neciporuka both chipping in three kills apiece, leading their team to a 25-11 win and putting them up 1-0. Maryland started slow in the second set by the combination of Jones and Csire with well-placed kills by
Hannah Thompson sparked the Terps to a 25-17 win. Now up 2-0, the Terps quelled any chance for a comeback as Jones and Csire were just too much for the Zips to overcome as the final set went Maryland's way by the score of 25-16.
Staying Undefeated
- The Terps improved to 10-0 on the young season, the best start under Head Coach Adam Hughes. It's the program's best start since an 11-0 beginning back in 2017.
- Overall the team has won 30 out of a total 33 sets this season with 17 consecutive set victories dating back to the fourth set of the Temple match on Friday, September 3, 2021.
Super Sam
- Sam Csire has been Maryland's leader in kills this season and Friday night was no different as she paced both teams with 15.
- Csire also accrued eight digs, two blocks and one assist to finish off her well-rounded night.
Dowler Delivers Again
- Sydney Dowler once again led the Terps in assists as she added 33 more to her already team-high 334 on the season.
- No other Terp finished with more than five assists on the night.
