DURHAM, NC – No. 9 Maryland bounced back in a big way by dominating its old ACC rival and No.12 Duke by a score of 4-0. When
Riley Donnelly came screaming down the right hand side,
Bibi Donraadt knew she had to get in position. Donnelly kept her eyes up the entire time and was able to put a pass right onto Donraadt's stick where she redirected the ball behind the goalie. After a quick back-and-forth, Maryland buzzed around the Duke net again where a
Kyler Greenwalt pass again found Donraadt who potted her second of the quarter.
Mayv Clune made up a heads up play in the second to deflect a clearing attempt and sent a pass to
Hope Rose who fired a shot into the back of the net giving Maryland a 3-0 lead.
A wonderful entry ball by
Mayv Clune sprung
Margot Lawn and
Julianna Tornetta for a two on one opportunity and the two transfers took advantage. Lawn flung the ball over to Tornetta and the Princeton transfer easily scored her first goal as a Terp. Donraadt stayed aggressive the entire game as she drew a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter.
Hope Rose stepped up to take it but her shot rang off the far post. The Terps cruised the rest of the way, relying on their defense that didn't allow a single shot on goal.
Missy Meharg's Take
"We were very dominant from start to finish. On Friday, we just started out a little slow. Today, we just really worked it. From the third quarter Friday, we just started off today as if it was an extension from Friday's match. We had four very strong quarters. We played three different presses and were able to be dominant throughout the whole game."
