No. 6 Terps Rally Falls Short In OT at No. 8 Indiana, 70-63

BLOOMINGTON, IN – The No. 6 Maryland women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season as it fell to No. 8 Indiana in overtime, 70-63, Sunday in at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Terps (10-4, 2-1 Big Ten) found themselves down by as many as nine in the fourth quarter, and while the team managed a late 9-1 run to force overtime, the team couldn't muster enough offense to complete the comeback.

Angel Reese continued her stellar start to the season as she finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Sunday's game marked the eighth time this season that the Baltimore native has finished with a double-double.

Along with Reese, Diamond Miller gave the Terps a spark off the bench as she finished in double-figures with 17 points. Ashley Owusu also finished in double-figures with 10 points.

Ali Patberg's 18 points led No. 8 Indiana (11-2, 3-0).

Brenda Frese's Take
"Obviously, a tremendous top 10 matchup when you talk about this game and the exposure on national television. I thought the better team won today. I thought the team that was more experienced, their veteran leadership showed through. I thought they did a tremendous job competing for all 45 minutes. Loved our fight. I thought Angel and Diamond, you know Angel started us out. Diamond was terrific for her second game truly back. To be in that kind of form and give us what she was able to, her heart and soul. But a tough lesson. First game to be able to go out on the road and have to play a tough team like Indiana. I thought they were terrific. For us, it's January. We've just got to improve get better and be able to learn from this."
