Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development

The Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development will be responsible for leadership, management and executing development programs for the entire student-athlete population. As a primary role, this position develops curriculum, content, and processes that meet the learning needs of student-athletes. Duties include oversight of the Kubasik First Impact program, which will be connected to the Maryland Made Mentor program, along with large-scale identity development and career readiness programs. Organize the day-to-day operations of the Student-Athlete Development unit and provide the administration with organizational planning. The position will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Develop curriculum, content, and processes that meet the learning needs of the student-athletes in the Kubasik First Impact program.
  • Create and manage internal and external timelines, stakeholders, and key deliverables.
  • Benchmark industry best practices, knowledge sharing with subject matter experts.
  • Recruit student-athletes, employers, and mentors for the program.
  • Communicate with student-athletes, athletic academic counselors, and college academic advisors.
  • Prepare reports on the Kubasik First Impact program and its overall performance and Career Readiness.
  • Schedule program work, oversee daily operations, coordinate the activities of the program, and set priorities for managing the program.
  • Provide support for the Gossett Transition program; first-years and transfers transition program.
  • Advise the Pre-Health Terps Career Industry, student group.
  • Attend meetings of the Maryland Made Team, Pre-Health Terps (PHT) Meetings, and Gossett Student-Athlete Center (GSAC).
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of all Maryland Made Student-Athlete Development Career Readiness, Leadership Education, and Identity Development Programming.
  • Hold office hours one-on-one appointments; resume building, graduate school planning, internship search, and other development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree required in higher education, sports management, student affairs, or a related field.
  • One (1) to three (3) years in higher education, non-profit, and/or corporate management environment. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing an identity-based development transition program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives for diverse student-athlete populations. The ability to manage competing priorities, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, and complete assignments on time.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with coaches, student-athletes, staff, university, and external constituencies.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing student-athletes.
  • Experience working in student-athlete development within the NCAA Division I athletics program.
  • Demonstrated experience in using social media to support educational and outreach initiatives.
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience working of learning and development program design (creating/researching, implementing, and facilitating user-based curriculum).
