COLLEGE PARK, MD – The No. 2 Maryland men's lacrosse team opened its season in convincing fashion, blasting the High Point Panthers 21-13 on a frigid Saturday afternoon at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.

Logan Wisnauskas led the Terps (1-0) with eight points (five goals and three assists). Graduate transfer
Keegan Khan accounted for six points (four goals and two assists) in his first game as a Terp. Sophomore transfer
Owen Murphy chipped in four goals himself on the afternoon in what was also his first game at Maryland.
Breaking Down The Action
- The Terps owned the first quarter, outscoring the Panthers 6-1 behind goals from Jonathan Donville, Wisnauskas (2), Murphy, Khan, and Daniel Maltz.
- The second quarterwent in favor of High Point as it outscored Maryland 4-3 in the frame. Bubba Fairman and Wisnauskas (2) were the goalscorers for the Terps.
- The third quarter was all Maryland as the team outscored High Point 7-2 on goals by Khan (3), Murphy (2), Donville, and Wisnauskas.
- The final 15 minutes was a tighter affair, as the Panthers held a 6-5 goals advantage. Kyle Long, Murphy, Gavin Tygh, Eric Malever, and Maltz got on the scoresheet in the final quarter.

- With his five goals, Wisnauskas notched his 28th career hat trick as a Terp.
- Wisnauskas's five goals gives him 149 for his career, tying him for fourth all-time in program history with Matt Hahn who scored his between 1995-98.
- Wisnauskas is third all-time in career points in Maryland history with 245. Next on the list is Matt Rambo's 257 points scored between 2014-17.
- The Sykesville, MD, native has tallied a point in all 58 games of his collegiate career and has the most eight-point games in school history with six.

- Maryland is now 93-3-1 all-time in season openers and has won 29 straight dating back to the 1994 season.

- Maryland is now 5-0 all-time against High Point, last taking down the Panthers 23-12 in the 2020 season opener.
- The 23 goals in that game was the most in a single game for the Terrapins since 2013, with Logan Wisnauskas leading the way with six goals. Bubba Fairman added a career-high five assists in the win.
- This was the third time Maryland has opened its season against the Panthers (2017, 2020).
