No. 4 Terps Stay Perfect With 19-7 Victory Inside Jones-Hill House

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Playing its first-ever indoor home game, the No. 4 Maryland women's lacrosse team continued its winning ways with a 19-7 victory over Villanova on Sunday afternoon inside Jones-Hill House. The Terps are now 6-0 overall.

Aurora Cordingley racked up career-high tying totals of six goals, and five assists and set a career-high with 11 points. The 11 points are the most by a Terp since Alex Aust had 11 in a game in 2013 against UMBC. It is one shy of the school record of 12 set by Jen Adams in 2001 against Johns Hopkins. Cordingley is only the sixth Terp ever to have an 11 point game.

"It was great to have the opportunity to play inside of JHH today," said head coach Cathy Reese. "It's an amazing facility. Our team was really excited to play here. Our grounds crew, facilities guys and administration all did an amazing job in making this happen and working on the fly to give our team an opportunity to compete. Great team win, but more importantly impressed with the teamwork that we're capable of here at Maryland."

Cordingley has at least three goals in every game this season and at least five points in every contest as she leads the country in scoring (7.0 points per game entering the game).

Grace Griffin had a season-best four goals, one shy of her career-high of five. It was her 16th career game with three of more goals.

Maryland took control of the game midway through the first quarter, ripping off five goals in a row to take a 7-2 lead and the Terps never looked back, leading by at least four for the remainder of the game.

Villanova (2-6) was led by Caroline Curnal, who had three goals.

This was the first-ever meeting between the teams.
