STATE COLLEGE, PA — Backed by a seven-run sixth inning, Maryland softball rolled past Penn State, 8-3, on Friday evening.

Jaeda McFarland recorded multi-hit games.
Courtney Wyche tossed a complete game in the circle. The Silver Spring native collected nine strikeouts and surrendered five hits, three walks and three runs over seven innings. Maryland (14-15) picked up its first Big Ten victory of the season and snapped the Nittany Lions' (18-12) eight-game win streak.
Breaking Down The Action
- Megan Mikami led off the game with a single. Maryland loaded the bases with walks from Haley Ellefson and Taylor Okada but failed to score.
- Greico's fourth homer of the year gave the Terrapins an early upper hand. In the top of the third, she blasted a solo shot over the center field wall.
- Maryland broke the game open in the top of the sixth, starting with a two-run double from Regan Kerr. Campbell Kline followed with an RBI single.
- Back-to-back RBI hits from Jaeda McFarland and Megan Mikami extended the lead. Merissa Borkowski kept it going with a sac fly, and Mikami scored on an error — making it an 8-1 Terrapins lead.
- Penn State got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run from Ally Kurland. The Nittany Lions scored two more times in the bottom of the seventh.
