SPOKANE, WA — Maryland women's basketball's season came to an end Friday night with a 72-66 loss to top-seeded Stanford. The No. 4 seed Terrapins finish the 2021-22 season with a 23-9 record, reaching their 10th Sweet 16 under head coach
Brenda Frese.

Angel Reese, who finished with 25 points to lead all scorers. The Terps outscored Stanford, 30-13, in the final 10 minutes — the most points either side put up in a quarter on Friday.
Brenda Frese's Take
"We got beat by the defending national champions so you know they're really talented. That first quarter really impacted us with the way they came out and shot the ball. I thought we spent too much time kind of trying to feel out that that first half with them. But really proud of the fact, love our fourth quarter, the fact that we didn't quit fighting, we laid it all out there. I can't say enough about our seniors.Katie and Chloe, I wish I would have had four years to be able to coach the two of them and Channise and Zoe who finished their careers with us, but for those that are our returners, we're gonna use this time to motivate us to be able to return to come back even better."
