No. 21 Terps Use 15 Hits To Down Indiana State, 12-6

GREENVILLE, NC – A season-high 15 hits lifted the No. 21 Maryland baseball team to a 12-6 victory over the Indiana State Sycamores on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the LeClair Classic. Chris Alleyne, Troy Schreffler Jr., and Matt Shaw all hit home runs on the afternoon, with Alleyne leading the team with three RBIs.

With the game tied at four, Maxwell Costes got on base via a hit by pitch and Schreffler Jr. promptly blasted a ball over the right-center field wall, giving the Terps a 6-4 lead. Shaw added two more insurance runs in the eighth inning with a two-RBI single, and a towering home run in the ninth inning.

Ryan Ramsey started the game for Maryland, going 6.1 innings, giving up five runs, and striking out four batters. Matt Orlando relieved Ramsey in the seventh inning, walking in a run but otherwise limiting the bases loaded threat, preserving the 6-5 lead. Ryan Van Buren pitched the eighth and ninth innings, giving up just one run.

Maryland's first run of the day came on a solo home run from the senior captain Alleyne in the third inning.

The Sycamores held a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, but RBIs from Riley Langerman, Shliger, and Alleyne tied the game at four apiece.
